Hebrews is really a book of contrasts. The writer compares several items in the Old Covenant with the New Covenant. 7:23-28 records this: “The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. …” Jesus is better than the Levitical priesthood. The priesthood of Jesus Christ is our guarantee. Once we’re saved by Jesus we are saved completely. * What does it mean to rightly divide the Word of God?
