In John 17, eternal life is laid out in all its glory. Through Jesus’ own words, we learn that Jesus has the authority to give eternal life and that it is a new quality of life for us here and now. It is knowing God, namely knowing Jesus Christ. He ends the passage by praying for unity, the same unity he enjoys with the Father. Like the disciples, we too share the glory of the Father. And he promises to continue to make the Father known to us, so that his love will be in us.
