Hebrews – So Great a Salvation, part 8

Who was Melchizedek and why is Jesus compared to him in Hebrews? Melchizedek was from the tribe of Levi and was designated to receive a tenth from all of Israel. He collected a tenth from Abraham and then blessed him. Jesus is from the tribe of Judah. The change of priesthood requires a change of the law. Jesus is this new priest and brings a better hope. Jesus is permanent high priest because he lives forever. This is good news!

About Basic Gospel

Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Bob grew up in a Christian home and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 13. During his high school and college years, Bob struggled with the question of how to live the Christian life. His "roller-coaster" experience taught him that he didn't have what it took to be "God's guy." More info: https://basicgospel.net/about/bob-christopher/
