It is Finished – Lesson 18

Jesus’s final week began with his triumphant march into Jerusalem, hailed by the people as their King. Things quickly changed. Later that week, Judas betrayed Jesus to the religious leaders, who arrested him in the Garden of Gethsemane. The high priest and elders interrogated Jesus, mocked him, and beat him through the night, hoping to find evidence to condemn him to death. All of these incidents were part of God’s plan. Pilate’s act of handing Jesus over to be crucified brought about the exact outcome that had to happen to carry out the plan and will of God … on our behalf. Jesus’ sacrifice is summed up in three words – “it is finished”. That’s good news for you and me! (Chapter 6, page 43)
