Great Expectations – Lesson 15

You, as a believer in Christ, can say no to sin. That may be a shocking statement to you. Many of us think that it’s impossible and resign ourselves to doing the “best we can”. Scripture teaches that we can say no to sin because of Christ Jesus who lives inside of us. As we learn to trust him, we will learn to say no to sin. Saying no to sin is the result of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life. This is grace in action. We can expect to see change in our behavior because our expectation is not based on us, but on Jesus Christ. Saying yes to God’s Spirit means you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. With Christ in you, you can say no to sin. (Chapter 5, page 36)
